I guess I'm going to China
- to visit my Granddad on his deathbed. The emphysema's finally taking its toll. We're leaving on New Year's Day and getting back on the 9th. It was supposed to be just my dad going back to Beijing, but I found out yesterday that my Gfather's on the brink of death so I begged my parents to let me go. I know it'd mean a lot to him, too, bc I'm his oldest [favorite] grandchild, we used to be really close when I lived in Beijing.
I'm a little nervous about the trip - I haven't been back since winter '03, a lot has changed since then and my Chinese language skills are at an all-time embarrassing low. I really hate that feeling, being in my other home country that shouldn't feel foreign but does anyway.
I'm sorry, I'm too sad to think of anything entertaining to contribute to the blog.
